I would like to extend my thanks and appreciation to all of you for the confidence reposed in me as President of the Mano River Women’s Peace Network. Liberia takes the responsibility to ensure the attainment of the objectives and goals of the network, through the collective efforts of Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone as has been done in the past.

We are committed to upholding the vision of MARWOPNET for a peaceful, prosperous, healthy, educated people living in unity and equity where they would enjoy all their human rights with MARWOPNET serving as a catalyst through which sustainable peace and human security can be attained. During the next two years, we shall also strive toward ensuring gender-responsive policies through our activities for socio-economic, political empowerment and human development for all. We are assured that with the collective participation of all, our mission would be achieved.

We take this opportunity on behalf of all of us to congratulate our sisters, especially our dynamic outgoing President, Dr. Hadja Saran Daraba Kaba, for having conducted our organization since its inception. It was through her outstanding efforts that MARWOPNET achieved visibility and recognition among our countries, Africa and the world. We also take this opportunity to thank all the partners who supported us over the years. Special thanks goes to FAS, the UN Special Organizations, the United Security Council, the AU, the EU, ECOWAS, the MRU Secretariat, diplomatic missions, the NGO community and all individuals who supported the initiatives of the Network. We appeal to you for your continued support as challenges to achieving our goals still remain.

Let us continue to be dedicated in our resolve to achieving our vision for a peaceful and prosperous sub-region and Africa as a whole.  Thank you.
